But a \"1 lb steak\" is never exactly 1 lb. With these methods, the order total is set on the order itself after the merchant weighs the product. No money is collected at checkout, so the final total is always correct.<\/p>\n\n<p><strong>If you accept card payments with this version:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p>The customer is charged the <strong>estimated amount<\/strong> at checkout, before the product is weighed. The final weight-adjusted total cannot be adjusted automatically. This may result in a small difference between what the customer paid and what the actual weight was worth.<\/p>\n\n<p><strong>Card payment support with an authorize-then-capture flow is currently in development.<\/strong> If you accept card payments and need the final total to be captured exactly, please contact us at <strong>contact@cookieprime.com<\/strong> for more information.<\/p>\n\n<!--section=installation-->\n<h4>Step 1 \u2014 Install and activate<\/h4>\n\n<ol>\n<li>Install and activate WooCommerce (if not already installed).<\/li>\n<li>Install and activate CookiePrime Sold by Weight.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n<h4>Step 2 \u2014 Configure a product<\/h4>\n\n<ol>\n<li>Go to <strong>Products \u2192 Add New<\/strong> (or edit an existing product).<\/li>\n<li>Set the <strong>Regular price<\/strong> to your price <strong>per unit<\/strong> (e.g. <code>15<\/code> for $15\/lb).<\/li>\n<li>In the <strong>Product data \u2192 General<\/strong> tab, check the box <strong>\"Sold by exact weight\"<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Set the <strong>Weight unit<\/strong> (lb, oz, kg, or g).<\/li>\n<li>Click <strong>Publish<\/strong> or <strong>Update<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n<h4>Step 3 \u2014 Take an order<\/h4>\n\n<ol>\n<li>A customer adds the weight product to the cart.<\/li>\n<li>They choose a quantity that represents the weight they want (e.g. quantity 2 = 2 lbs estimated).<\/li>\n<li>The cart and checkout show \"Estimated:\" totals with a notice.<\/li>\n<li>They complete checkout using an offline payment method (Cash on Delivery, Bank Transfer, or Check).<\/li>\n<li>The order moves to <strong>Awaiting Weight<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n<h4>Step 4 \u2014 Weigh and finalize<\/h4>\n\n<ol>\n<li>Go to <strong>Weight Station<\/strong> in the WordPress admin menu.<\/li>\n<li>The order appears as a card. The email uses WooCommerce's standard email system.
