By default the web counter will be displayed in your footer, to change the location of the counter simply navigate to your widgets page and embed it anywhere you want in your blog. You can also change the hit counter style so it can fit with the design of your blog. Unzip the downloaded archive 2. Extract **hit-counter-max.zip** and upload the folder **hit-counter-max** to _/ wp-content/plugins/_ directory 3. Activate the plugin from _Plugins > Hit Counter Max > Activate_, under WordPress admin interface 4. In the _Appearance > Widgets_ menu, drag to your sidebar the Hit Counter Max Plugin. 5. It has a lot different types of hit counters with all doing the basic task counting hits. The only thing I might suggest is to count hits per site and not hits per page. For example as I navigate through my page I expect to get one hit but instead I get 10 because I navigated through 10 pages during my visit to the site. I use the setting Unique hits which I believe keeps track of unique hits by IP but it doesn't necessarily track domain site visits.
